Maths W3 T2

For maths this week my group has been looking at probability. Probability is when u kind of have to guess. You are not 100% but you think it might. Lets just say you were to roll a dice for it to land on 4 it would be 1 chance out of 6 because there are 6 sides on a dice. We were asked to spin a wheel of what we should do during Lockdown. I spun mine 50 times here is the`results from the wheel.
What charts do you like to use the most?

Writing W3 T2

For Writing This week my group have been focusing on Dependent and Indepentent Clauses. A Dependent clause is like this I watered my plants. An Indepentent clause is like this I watered my plants so much they drowned. Its like adding on to a sentence to make it more interesting. Here is my small piece of writing that I did to display my learning.
What are you working on for writing this week?

Writing W2 T2

This week for writing we have been looking at ARMS and CUPS. These are things that we can include in our writing. At the end we edit our work to make sure it is the best work we have ever done and then we make sure we try and add ARMS and CUPS. ARMS stands for Add, Remove, Move, and Subsitute. And CUPS stands for Capitalisation, Understanding, Punctuation, and Spelling. We always check our work using those words once we have finshed. Here is an actrostic poem I made about ARMS and CUPS.

(Sorry it is quite hard to see Subsitute and Capitalisation but here it is) Do you use ARMS and CUPS in your learning?

Maths W1 T2

This week in maths I have been focusing on equal addition with decimals. We got to choose what strategy we did and if we wanted to challenge ourselves with decimals or not. I chose decimals because I actually don't find them that hard. Here is my screencastify to show my learning.

What hs been keeping you busy during lockdown?

Writing W1 T2

This week for writing we have been looking at what the right language for a biography. I think if you were writing for a younger audience you wouldn't use as complex words so that they would be able to understand. My hub wrote biographies on some famous New Zealanders a couple of weeks ago. We were asked to look at what language we used in those and write down what type of language it was.

How are you finding this lockdown?

Reading W1 T2

This week has been pretty strange having to do online school. For reading this week we have been looking at making connections between texts. We were asked to come up with some ideas to show how we can do that. I used a template that the teachers had given us. Here is my work.

How are you finding this online school?

Cake

Yesterday I iced a cake that we had in the freezer. I had lots of fun doing this. I tried to put fondant on it but it didn't quite work so I tried again and it ripped but I just patched it up. I didn't do a very good Job of making sure you couldn't see any of the patches. I tried to make it white and gold themed. Here is my final product.

Do you like eating cake? Whats you favourite flavour?

Science

Yesterday I decided I wanted to do some science experiments. I found a book of science experiments that had some good ones in there. I decided to the ones that envolved water because we didn't have much other stuff. Most of the ones that I did were based on air pressure. Here are some photos of me doing them.

Have you ever done science at home?

Hut hammock

Hut hammock

I have been getting very bored in lockdown. So I decided to make this hut behind the couch. It has two sheets hanging from the curtain rail down to my couch so it has a sloped roof. The sheets also have fairy lights attached to them for light. My cats love the fairy lights, They try to chase them all the time. This morning I was sleeping at 5am till I got this thing land on me. I woke up and was quite shocked to see that Jessie had gotten on top of the hut and used it as a hammock so it had fallen down. I was so scared I didn't know what was really happening. I let Jessie out and tried to pick all the stuff up. I saw that the bathroom light was on in my parents room so I knew what time it was because they have to go to work at 5:30am. I walked very quetly to their room and mum said that I could sleep in their room. So I went to sleep in there and when I woke up at about 9:00am. I crept to where my wreck of a hut was and Jessie was sleeping on the fairy lights in the hut?!?!

Dressing up! Featuring Cats

For my birthday one of my close friends Lilly got me some cat clothes. The cats do not like wearing the clothes. But we make them wear it anyway. We have a tutu and poncho that has a hat that goes with it. I have decided that I would like to make some clothes out of some fabric that we have. Here are some pictures of my cats wearing the clothes.

Do you have cats at home?

Alfie the friendly palm drive cat

Alfie

Alfie isnt actually our cat. Alfie lives down the road from us. Alfie only comes to our house for food. We were starting to wonder if he was being fed at his house or not. Alfie is a very friendly cat with very sharp teeth and claws. (I found that out the hard way). Our cats do not like Alfie as much as we do. My dad was the first one to feed Alfie so thats why he keeps coming back. But now my dad does not want Alfie coming back. Alfie also comes for the attention. At my birthday party last year he showed up and everyone loved him. I think Alfie likes coming for attention because he lives with teenagers and two middle age people. Alfie has been coming over alot lately I think he is being driven mad withhis owners home everyday too.

Slinky

Slinky

(After I have done all the cats I will share some more information) Slinky isn't actually my cat she is my nana's cat. Slinky looks just like Bullseye. Slinky gets very scared and doesn't like beingpicked up as much as the other cats do. Slinky really doesn'y mind that i'm home because she is usually outside or sleeping anyway. Slinky loves being brushed and most of the time refuses to eat her food. Slinky doesn't  mind Jessie but I think she dislikes Bullseye. I also think she dislikes Alfie too.

Jessie my other cat

Jessie

Jessie is Special. He meows at least 200 times a day. He loves hugs and food. He is not liking me being at home all the time. In fact i'm pretty sure he is sick of me. When I say he loves food I mean he absolutely adores his food. Jessie likes to go outside and play with Bullseye. Jessie has a friend called Alfie who lives down the road from us. Jessie has found a spot to hide away from me while I am home.  Jessie does not mind Slinky because most of the time he just ignores her. Jessie loves Bullseye because thye have known each other for a while because they are twins and he loves chasing her so thats probably why he likes her so much.

Bullseye my cat

Bullseye

Bullseye is very adventurous. She loves going outside and catching birds. Bullseye is a very friendly cat, she enjoys being chased by Jessie because she is too fast for him. Bullseye strongly dislikes Aflie (the friendly neighbourhood cat) and does not enjoy getting hugs as much as Jessie does. Bullseye does not get as much food as Jessie because he usually eats her food once he has finished his. I don't think Bullseye likes having me home all the time either but I guess she has to deal with it. Bullseye dislikes Slinky (Nana's cat) alot. Whenever she sees Slinky she hisses and makes very funny noises.
