Be Poem

 This week for reading we were challanged to make a Be poem. A be poem is one of my favourite poems because is was so easy. Here is what I did.

Reading W7 T3

 This week for reading we were looking at when it is okto skim read. In our call we came up with ideas of when it is okay to skim read and when it is not. We decided it was okay to skim read if the text you are reading is giving you information you already know or if it isnt the main point. We decided that we need to properly read when we are looking for the main point or reading the main point. We also thought that we should not be skim reading instructions or recipes otherwise our finishing product may not be the same as the goal we were going for. We were challanged to read instructions and create what the instructions told us to do. Here is the instructions i read.

Judging by the colours it says i needed at the top I thought it was going to be a bee. I was completely wrong, Here is my amazing artwork.

I wasnt really sure what I was doing because I found the instructions quite difficult to understand but I am happy with the final product. 

What did you think about the instructions? Do you think anyone younger then year 7/8 would be able to understand them?

Writing W7 T3

 This week for writing and reading we were learning all about reading instructions. We were challanged to make our own instructions. I made instructions on how to make crepes. Here is what I made.

Maths W7 T3

 This week for maths our main focus was geometry. We were challanged to go around out house and find shapes. I was able to find 6 shapes. I named the number of sides, number of faces, number of pairs of parallel sides, number of edges and number of vertices. Here is my information.

 This week for reading we were learning about hobbies. A hobby is something that you like doing in your free time that makes you happier. For example in my free time I practice my flute. I may not always be the best at what im playing but I enjoy it and do it often. You dont have to be good at your hobby. Another hobby I like doing is baking so I decided to make a video on how to make lemon slice. I sadly could not upload the video but here are some screenshots. (and the recipe)

What is one of your favourite hobbies?

Maths W6 T3

 This week for maths we did a statistical investigation. I have been shooting 100 goals everyday during lockdown and recording how many I get in so I thought that would be perfect to use for my maths. I enjoy doing statistical investigations because I like looking at the graphs. Here is what I did for my DLO.

Writing Poem

 Thus week for writing we were challanged to make a poem for our writing task. I really enjoy writing ryhming peoms so thats what I did. I decided to go for a walk around the block and admire my surroundings for the poem. This is what I came up with.

 This week for maths my goal was:solve problems with fractions, decimals proportions and ratios using a broad range of strategies. At first I found this goal really challanging but when I got the hang of it I ended up really enjoying it. We were challanged to write our own word problems. Here is my DLO

Reading W5 T3

 This week for reading we were looking at mindsets. I found this topic interesting because sometimes your win or loss can be based on your mindset. I researched Jazz Thornton. I think she is a rolemodel to anyone really. She has a growth mindset and never gives up. I created my DLO on a google drawing because I think that is the easiest and most efficient way to present my learning. 

What mindset do yo think succesful people have and why?

Inner peace

 This week for reading we were reading about inner peace and embracing it. Inner peace is like being at peace with yourself. Inner peace to me is doing what I love for example sport, being with friends, etc. For our create task we were challenged to colour in a peace logo. I didnt get to do this because I was away but I had fun looking at everyone elses.

For example this is Ariella's work. She has written Happeiness, love, peace, calm, and kind. That is what she thinks brings her the most inner peace.

Emotional literacy

Hi guys, Welcome to term 3 2021. Today we were looking at emotional literacy. Emotional literacy is being able to identify your emotions and being able to tell people about it. We did a task that was about pleasent energy and unpleasent energy. We had to put different emotions into those different energies. I found this task a challange but we got there in the end.

Maths W9 T2

 This week for maths we were continuing on with the goal we did last week which was Communicate and interpret locations and directions, using compass directions, distances, and grid references. exept that last week we looked at grid references. But this week we looked at using compass directions and distances. I really enjoyed doing this goal. We were challanged to make a map and guide someone around it. Here is mine. (I also used the same map from last week).

 This week for reading we are choosing 3 different articles from 3 different genres. I really enjoyed doing this here is what I read: 

Sea temperatures on the rise Genre: Science I really enjoyed reading this text. I think it was cool to learn about how much the sea temperatures are rising. I think it is incredible that the water is getting so warm. This text gave me a lot of information about this topic.

Mental health day - October 10th Genre: Health I found this topic interesting to read because it could be useful for people who do feel alone and upset to know that there is always someone there to talk to or share your probems with. 

runaway sheep on the loose in new plymouth Genre: Animals I found this text really funny to read. How on earth could a sheep run away? I wonder how fast sheep actually are?

Maths W8 T2

 This week for maths we were learning about grids and how to read maps and stuff. I really enjoyed doing this goal. We were challanged to make a map and put a grid over it. We also had to make questions about our map to show to our friends. Here is mine.

 This week for maths we were challanged to make a day out to diamond harbour. We had to look at all the bus routes and stuff. I found this very challenging but here is my work.

 This week for reading we were asked to create a story no longer then 100 words using as many senses as possible. It was supposed to be something that we do in our everyday life. I walk into school very early every morning so I decided to write about that. Here is what I wrote.

 This week for reading we went to the library to get a book to read. I chose AFL legend I have no clue why but lets not questions. Anyways our task this week was to make a character web to display our meaning of the book. Here is mine.

 Hi everyone, This week for reading our goal was to: Use questions to challenge the text, question the author, establish the authenticity of the text and state opinions.  This week for writing we were challanged to write about our turangawaewae. (Turangawaewae means like your place to stand and where you feel most at home). First I had to find out where my turangawaewae was. I decided that my turangawaewae was at spencer park. I absolutely love spending time with my family there.
